Artist Bio
James Lindsey Brown is a lover of artwork. He was published in The Texas Review and The Sam Houston Literary Review. He wrote the best "flop" book on handgun safety entitled- Handgun Safety in 1996. He also had two website entitled GunSafety. com and HandGunSafety. com which he gave up because of the tremendous amounts of emails. He no longer deals with gun safety but still enjoys art and the artworld.
The photos presented are for the wonderful people of Germany to once again view a German Masterpiece done by one of the greatest German Sculptors Wilhelm Franz Alexander Frederick Wolff III done in 1846. His sculpture The Dying Lioness took First Place at the Vienna International Exhibition of 1873.
He gained fame by his infamous bronze statue of Kaiser Wilhelm which was destroyed some time during the world wars. He and his works are recognized by the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in their book "Sculpture of a City".
The sculpture entitled-Panther Mit Beute or Panther With Prey was displayed in Berlin at the Berlin International Art Exhibition of 1846. This sculpture is listed in the actual catalog of the Berlin International Art Show of 1846 on page 95, #1150 which can be found at Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
Now 150 years later, all Berliners, all Germans, and the world has an opportunity to see once again one of the greatest sculpture animalism of all times. A German can look at this awakening sculpture with great pride as it is recognized as one of the best in the world and most will be viewing it for the very first time.
Wilhelm Wolff 's scupture The Dying Lioness can be found at the entrance to the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens in the United States.
